Informational Meeting about the Relicensing of the Eel River Dams
On Saturday, June 17th, at 4 PM there will be an informational meeting at the Willits Center for the Arts sponsored by Friends of the Eel River and the American Whitewater Association. PG&E has recently begun the process of relicensing the Eel River dams. What does that mean for the Eel River, the salmon and the residents who live along the banks of the main stem Eel? Built on a fault, how safe are these dams? Without a notification procedure, what happens if another Oroville situation occurs here? What does the relicensing mean for the dwindling native salmon populations? Can recreational releases bring much needed revenue to the County? Do you want to have a voice in the process? Representatives of Friends of the Eel River and the American Whitewater Association will be there to educate and answer questions.
